Roving Caregivers Pilot Project Launched

Pilot Project launched in Toledo District
 
The Department of Human Services; through the Community and Parent Empowerment Programme (COMPAR) & National Committee for Families and Children (NCFC) is officially launching the pilot project Roving Caregivers Programme (RCP).
 
The RCP is an early childhood home visiting programme that was designed to provide “early stimulation and enrichment to the young child and parents; and training to a cadre of young caregivers.” This programme was formally introduced in Clarendon Jamaica and has been replicated in Grenada, Dominica, St. Lucia and St. Vincent and now in Rural Toledo Belize. The RCP will be piloted in four villages in the Toledo District: San Jose, San Miguel, San Marcus and Laguna.
 
The pilot programme was initiated on Monday, 3rd March and is scheduled to run for one year.
